  • “One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it.” – Master Oogway

It really is funny how things turn out, one could say even that:

    “God is powered by irony.”

I have recently been working on my own horror story set within the Lovecraftian Mythos. Through research and writing of this I stumbled upon a Call of Cthluhu roleplaying rule book:

    Secrets of Japan

Part of this book explains the idea of Buddhism within a Mythos setting. In my percieved vanity and folly I had recommended a Buddhist re-evaluation of (self) perception to a loved one not realising that in the 12 years since my first reading up on this philosophy I might need to re-evaluate my path within the framework of Buddha’s words.

That is not to say I am no longer a Satanist, for I was born one and will always remain one. Also where I to renounce magic I would lose everything I have gained, and that is a cost that I will never pay. So I owe it if not only to myself, if not the Left Hand Path itself then really to everyone who I connect with on whatever level and in whatever manner to listen to one history’s greatest Atheists to achieve a greater sense of carnal contentment, intellectual craft and mental indominance, in short greater:

    Satanic Life Power

Words are not enough to express the radical brain changes that occur when one reads even the shortest of studys or sutras it has only been a day or two since I vowed to re-evaluate my life, and already I can sense the changes.

One being that the chapter on Buddhism within my piece on Satanic Yoga will probably expand itself into another work.

    *laughs*

Starting a new book while still working on another. I guess some parts of me will never be changed.

“Thus it makes sense to say that we have skilful and unskilful thoughts, we speak skilful and unskilful words, and we act either in a skilful or in an unskilful way.

The Buddhist Precepts and the Ten Perfections give concrete meaning to good and bad and explain skilful and unskilful volitional acts in detail.”- Good and bad vs. skilful and unskilful.

  • I rewrote this…

I am Keldor. Shamed Prince of Eternia, and current tennant of Snake Mountain. This is Panthor my peerless friend.

Fabulous secret powers were revealed to me the day I lost half my face…

I mean held aloft my Havok Staff and said, “By the power of Hordak’s Sanctua… err Snake Mountain…

    I
    have
    the
    power!”

Panthor was always a mighty battle cat but I became Skeletor, the most not nice man in the Universe!

Dark magic holds great secrets and with it I test the metal of the Sorceress, Man-At-Arms and that accursed He-Man.

Little do they know I hold Eternia in defence against the Snake-Men and the forces of Hordak.

  • New Year’s Eve. Why Discriminate?

So I’ve decided to stay in this New Years.

    Why you may ask?

Well your inquiry into the nature of myself will now be rewarded.

I feel a strange sense of both apathy and hope regarding 2000 and Fine.

That and I am probably going to give up drinking again. Possibly even meat and caffiene.

Oh and like many others I’m poor.

Ultimately though New Years, and to the same extent Christmas, has no real meaning for me anymore. Christmas can just about be salvaged through contemplations of Hanukkah and Yule, and cherishing and treasuring the imaginative power of those most magical of creatures; children.

But New Years is just an arbitrary signpost in the passage of time that, like so many things, we have grown accustomed accepting as a universally recognised holiday.

Yes I’ll probably enjoy the time off and I will most likely phone my daughter to speak to her and wish her well. And why not? Her mother has chosen to raise her Christian, as did my parents although loosely so with me, and what right have I even as a father to hijack and confuse her burgeoning development? My only hope is that Josephine has enough of I and her mother’s compassion, thirst for knowledge to grow curious about other ways of interpreting life and all it’s myriad of experience.

As a Satanist, some people foolishly mistake me to be utterly Anti-Christian, some even come seeking a fellow soul and like mind to share their narrow minded, hateful, pent up pointless angsty dribblings.

I like to think of myself as more the Ante-Christ rather than the Anti-Christ. My particular ideas, worldviews and opinions born of (literally “Ante”) what I thought to have been the, forgive the term, omnipotence and omnipresence of Christian ideas.

Yes, there was a time when I was angry at God, and all those other inversionist qualities that I see in others and wince at, but ultimately my general sense of void at the mention of God or Jesus is because, after nearly 30 years of being told one particular subjective truth.

    I.

    Get.

    It.

But that doesn’t mean I’m born again. Far from it.

You see, and yes even at this late stage in the game this may still be news to some of you, there isn’t one all pervading reality or truth and it, or rather they if there are to be many realities, most certainly don’t always follow the Gregorian outline of time.

Modern Satanism, you may be suprised to hear, isn’t interested in killing cats, dogs, babies, virgins, taking over world banks, turning into lizards from Sirius or any of that other hooey.

Modern Satanism is in fact quite the most sympathetic, emapthic and open minded religion thus far. Yes Anton LaVey was a misanthrope with zero-tolerance for idiots, but shouldn’t we all be? I for one upon hearing of one man shooting another in the arm in a movie theatre simply for being too loud felt a sense of Satanic justice.

If anything, modern Satanism aspires to the absolute pinnacle of the idea of free will, by ensuring that freedom of speech and other individual liberties are not only available to all but almost assured. This may be done partly out of staunch Luciferian protest or just for shits and giggles at the undoubtedly inevitable intellectual and verbal dross some people still manage to not only buy but profess and press on one another.

So with this and the Satanic idea that life is one big party, and any excuse for a holiday I present to you three alternative New Year’s celebrations that are somewhat dearer to me and less arbitrary than something a cloistered eunuch dreamt up aeons ago.

  • Left Vs. Right

    “Which Side Are You On?

Take The Hemispheric Brain Dominance Test

Basic Right Brain and Left Brain Characteristics

In general the left and right hemispheres of your brain process information in different ways. We tend to process information using our dominant side. However, the learning and thinking process is enhanced when both side of the brain participate in a balanced manner. This means strengthening your less dominate hemisphere of the brain. Listed below are information processing styles that are characteristically used by your right or left brain hemisphere. Read the information below to help you understand how your brain processes information. Pay attention to your less dominant style so that you can learn how to improve it.

    Linear Vs. Holistic Processing

    Logical Vs. Intuitive

    Sequential Vs. Random Processing

    Verbal Vs. Nonverbal Processing

    Symbolic Vs. Concrete Processing

    Reality-Based Vs. Fantasy-Oriented Processing

    Linear Vs. Holistic Processing

The left side of the brain processes information in a linear manner. It processes from part to whole. It takes pieces, lines them up, and arranges them in a logical order; then it draws conclusions. The right brain however, processes from whole to parts, holistically. It starts with the answer. It sees the big picture first, not the details. If you are right-brained, you may have difficulty following a lecture unless you are given the big picture first. That is why it is absolutely necessary for a right-brained person to read an assigned chapter or background information before a lecture or to survey a chapter before reading. If an instructor doesn’t consistently give an overview before he or she begins a lecture, you may need to ask at the end of class what the next lecture will be and how you can prepare for it. If you are predominantly right-brained, you may also have trouble outlining (You’ve probably written many papers first and outlined them latter because an outline was required). You’re the student who needs to know why you are doing something. Left-brained students would do well to exercise their right-brain in such a manner.

    Sequential Vs. Random Processing

In addition to thinking in a linear manner, the left brain processes in sequence. The left brained person is a list maker. If you are left brained, you would enjoy making master schedules and and daily planning. You complete tasks in order and take pleasure in checking them off when they are accomplished. Likewise, learning things in sequence is relatively easy for you. For example, spelling involves sequencing – if you are left-brained, you are probability a good speller. The left brain is also at work in the linear and sequential processing of math and in following directions.

By, contrast, the approach of the right-brained student is random. If you are right-brained, you may flit from one tack to another. You will get just as much done, but perhaps without having addressed priorities. An assignment may be late or incomplete, not because you weren’t working but because you were working on something else. You were ready to rebel when asked to make study schedules for the week. But because of the random nature of your dominant side, you must make lists, and you must make schedules. This may be your only hope for survival in college. You should also make a special effort to read directions. Oh yes, the mention of spelling makes you cringe. Use the dictionary, carry a Franklin speller, use the spell checker on your computer. Never turn in an assignment without proofing for spelling. Because the right side of the brain is color sensitive, you might try using colors to learn sequence, making the first step green, the second blue, the last red. Or you may want to “walk” a sequence, either by physically going from place to place or by imagining it. For the first step of the sequence, you might walk to the frond door; for the second, to the kitchen; for the third, to the den, etc. Or make Step One a certain place or thing in you dorm room or study place, and Step Two another. If you consistently use the same sequence, you will find that this strategy is transferable to many tasks involving sequence.

    Symbolic Vs. Concrete Processing

The left brain has no trouble processing symbols. Many academic pursuits deal with symbols-such as letters, words, and mathematical notations. The left brained person tends to be comfortable with linguistic and mathematical endeavors. Left-brained students will probably just memorize vocabulary words or math formulas. The right brain, on the other hand, wants things to be concrete. The right brain person wants to see, feel, or touch the real object. Right brain students may have had trouble learning to read using phonics. They prefer to see words in context, to see how the formula works. To use your right brain, create opportunities for hands-on activities, use something real whenever possible. You may also want to draw out a math problem or illustrate your notes.

    Logical Vs. Intuitive Processing

The left brain processes in a linear, sequential, logical manner. When you process on the left side, you use information piece by piece to solve a math problem or work out a science experiment. When you read and listen, you look for the pieces so that you can draw logical conclusions. If you process primarily on the right side of the brain, you use intuition. You may know the right answer to a math problem but not be sure how you got it. You may have to start with the answer and work backwards. On a quiz, you have a gut feeling as to which answers are correct, and you are usually right. In writing, it is the left brain that pays attention to mechanics such as spelling, agreement, and punctuation. But the right side pays attention to coherence and meaning; that is, your right brain tells you it “feels” right.

    Verbal Vs. Nonverbal Processing

Left brain students have little trouble expressing themselves in words. Right brain students may know what they mean, but often have trouble finding the right words. The best illustration of this is to listen to people give directions. The left brain person will say something like “From here, go west three blocks and turn north on Vine Street. Go three or four miles and then turn east onto Broad Street.” The right brain person will sound something like this: “Turn right (pointing right), by the church over there (pointing again). Then you will pass a McDonalds and a Walmart. At the next light, turn right toward the BP station.” So how is this relevant to planning study strategies? Right brain students need to back up everything visually. If it’s not written down, they probably won’t remember it. And it would be even better for right brain students to illustrate it. They need to get into the habit of making a mental video of things as they hear or read them. Right brain students need to know that it may take them longer to write a paper and the paper may need more revision before it says what they want it to say. This means allowing extra time when a writing assignment is due.

    Reality-Based Vs. Fantasy-Oriented Processing

The left side of the brain deals with things the way they are-with reality. When left brain students are affected by the environment, they usually adjust to it. Not so with right brain students. They try to change the environment! Left brain people want to know the rules and follow them. In fact, if there are no rules for situations, they will probably make up rules to follow! Left brain students know the consequences of not turning in papers on time or of failing a test. But right brain students are sometimes not aware that there is anything wrong. So, if you are right brain, make sure you constantly ask for feedback and reality checks. It’s too late the day before finals to ask if you can do extra credit. Keep a careful record of your assignments and tests. Visit with your professor routinely. While this fantasy orientation may seem a disadvantage, in some cases it is an advantage. The right brain student is creative. In order to learn about the digestive system, you may decide to “become a piece of food! And since emotion is processed on the right side of the brain, you will probably remember well anything you become emotionally involved in as you are trying to learn.

These are just some of the differences that exist between the left and right hemispheres, but you can see a pattern. Because left brain strategies are the ones used most often in the classroom, right brain students sometimes feel inadequate. However, you now know that you can be flexible and adapt material to the right side of your brain. Likewise, those of you who are predominantly left brain know that it would be wise to use both sides of the brain and employ some right brain strategies.”

  • “I would hold Musharaf responsible,” Bhutto wrote…

“Thus, they ordered the removal of Bhutto in order to
carry on happily with the War on Terror hoax with its lucrative
military ware and technology deals numbering in the trillions of
dollars, with Wall Street rulers and stockholders feasting on the fat
pork of the military-industrial-media-Congressional complex. This also
may give the USA an excuse to intervene and “contain” Pakistan, which
would mean that they would then have Iran completely surrounded. The
pretext would be that Pakistan’s nuclear bombs are not in “safe” hands.

    Political
assassinations have always been a part of life. Sometimes it is done
for purely domestic political reasons. Sometimes it is done just for
the thrill of it. However, the death of Benazir Bhutto has
repercussions that extend far beyond Pakistani domestic politics and it
is for this reason that one should be skeptical about who is
“officially” being blamed. More importantly, one should also look at
the political gain that those who are doing the finger pointing could
expect to receive as a result of making such accusations. Who benefits
    from this situation? “

    Any
time you hear the corporate news media mention “al-Qaeda,” it is just
as in Orwell’s 1984 when the telescreens would have their “Two Minutes
    Hate,”

  • Megatron Origin #4 Review

Before I start with my inquiries and comments I
must outrightly state that overall I like this series and my only
disappointment with this issue is finding out that Sentinel Prime might
still be alive, and may even return!

    Shocked

Being a bit of Megatron uber-fan and a Decepticon sympathiser, I
have no real interest in Sentinel after the fall of Kaon. I may be
wrong but canonically doesn’t it go that Meg’s takes his first City and
kills the prior Prime? Anything after this involving Sentinel is to me
just quite literally flogging a dead horse.

Prior to Kaon please by all means, lets have some more Sentinel Prime which leads nicely into my next point(s).

I like the idea of the whole revolt and subsequent formation and
rise of the Decepticons being a grand cred gaining scheme for Ratbat.
The mention of contacts by our dear departed Cybertronian Capitalist
and Megatron’s acquistition of the data-cube is also nice a allusion to
the War Within arc’s idea of a Quintesson hand in Cybertronian affairs.

However I feel, like others, that we both the creative team and fans
deserved more than four issues. If not just to have seen a lot more of
the Cybertronian economical and political climate just to flesh out the
IDW conception of the planet prior to the Great War, add further
nobility to Megatron and his cause, and conversely Sentinel Prime’s
    disdain for the Council.

The colouring in this issue didn’t really throw me that much, in fact
it seemed to highlight a subtle pique in the action being shown.

Don’t get me started on the whole slash/snuggle factor of Starscream
bequeathing Megatron his cannon, and the fact his alledged in character
betrayal hinted at in issue 3 never happened.

    Mmmm.

    Cool

Also, as pointed out a cute touch seeing as at the climax *giggle*
I said climax, of Infiltration it is this weapon that Megatron uses to
finally end Screamer’s Transformer Crack/Ore-13 binge.

But anyway, I can understand and agree with some of the other
criticisms but at the end of the day props and kudos are due to Eric,
Alex, Josh et al for attempting to take some legendary mythos and
mystique and creating for what is (still to some respects) a landmark
    title.

    Very Happy
